Season Recap

Posted on 06/11/2025

The Friars opened the 2025 campaign looking to defend their Catholic League Crown. With ten players committed to play baseball at the next level, the Friars were poised to have a strong season. The year started off strong
sweeping Kellenberg and dominant wins over St. John’s Prep, Holy Cross, and St. Mary’s. The Friars started off league play 6-1. The team also took the
14th ranked team in the nation, Poly Prep down to the wire. The pitching
staff was the strength this season. With a staff led by Luke Coats, Lucas
Miller, and Michael Clare the Friars only gave up 2.4 runs a game, by far
the least amount in the Catholic league. Offensively, the Friars were led
by Offensive Player of the Year finalist Anthony Carlo who picked up where
he left off last season by once again being among the league leaders in
batting average, hits, doubles, triples, home runs, slugging percentage and
runs batted in. Four year starter Phil Mazzola once again batted over 300
and is a finalist for Catcher of the Year. The Friars had six players
receive All-League Honors. In what is considered the best baseball league
on Long Island the Friars finished the season 13-6 and earned the two seed
in the playoffs.

After two hard fought games in the playoffs, the Friars season ended Monday night in a loss to St. John the Baptist.

The team graduates seventeen seniors, seven of which will be playing
baseball in college next and all of whom were a part of last year’s
championship run. They have helped turn the program into one of the
powerhouses of Long Island Baseball. They will be greatly missed. Coach
Parsolano and his staff would like to thank them for their hard work over
the past four years and wish them the best of luck.

“Congratulations to the Varsity Baseball Team on a great season.”
